How can plants and nature help us?
They can heal our heart and soul and spirit.
More and more people are going back to the natural ways of healing and working with plants as a preventative and support system. Science is backing up the knowledge that indigenous cultures have long known – that plants and nature can heal and help us on a holistic level and that we must work together as allies if we are to survive and thrive on this earth.
Perhaps you walk through the forest to bring you back to your happy place. Or drink peppermint tea to calm your belly after a greasy meal. Maybe you use lavender essential oil to ease your nerves or eat oranges and lemons to stop a cold? That’s wonderful, so do I.
Did you know plants can do oh so much more than that?
They can clear away trauma that you have experienced in this lifetime and that has been passed down through the generations in your dna. Trauma and wounds that you may not know were even there, but that nonetheless affect the way you deal with stress, relationships or how your body reacts to stimulants like drugs and alcohol. After all, when your grandmother had your mother in her womb, the egg that eventually became you was already in there. What was she going through during that time, that you are now carrying?
To get to a life you love, you need to make some changes to how you view the world – views and self-talk that are getting in the way. You may also need to clear that old ancestral stuff. The good news is that change is possible. Scientifically we know through the study of epigenetics that we do not have to suffer the same dis-ease that our forebears did. But we often can’t make transformations just through our mind or positive thinking, no matter how determined we are. We need some physical and energetic changes to take place.
That is where our wonderful plant kingdom comes in.
Plants and nature are our teachers and allies.
They are able to remind us of who we are, not as siloed individuals but as someone who is part of larger living whole. By being closer to nature we can also become closer to our hearts and our true, perfect selves. We can get back to the rhythm of life that is balanced and true.
On a physical level they can heal the parts of us that have suffered trauma or are stuck in a cycle of addiction and craving. They can heal our frayed nerves, our sleeplessness, our brain function.
Nature can bring us back to our greatest potential.
This is a partnership. You have to do the self-help work too, but working with the plant kingdom makes the path so much easier.
