During my time in Northland I co-ordinated and wrote the successful bid proposal documents for Northland to host teams and matches for both the Rugby World Cup in 2011 and the FIFA U20’s World Cup. Rugby New Zealand said my bid proposal was one of, if not THE best proposal in the country. This six month project involved much more than just writing and getting the photography together. I also travelled around the whole region working with rugby enthusiasts, tourism groups, sports stadia and small local communities to gather interest, enthusiasm and ideas for the project and rally support for something that was many years away. I was also gestating my own wee major project at the same time – my first child Isabella. I still remember doing the final proof reading on the floor of my living room trying to get comfortable with my huge stomach in the way.
